music man & horsie cuteness

We owe our weekend parenting sanity to man who calls himself “DJ Tiesto.” Nate discovered that if you put on his station on Pandora, the kids magically behave themselves…for HOURS at a time. I’m telling you, it can be 30 minutes past starving and tired, and my children will miraculously turn from crazy banshees into perfect angels. It’s downright odd. But do we ask questions? No siree Bob, we do not. We have beliefs about gift horses’ mouths around these parts.

alligator song, part deux

I am home for a few hours of nap between session one and two with a laboring mom. I’m scarfing down a banana and peanut butter while the kids eat lunch, then planning to put on tele-nanny for Vivi while Charlie and I sleep. Some weeks are all about threading seconds together to make minutes, and it feels like there is a never-ending trail of stuff not being done along the way. But the kids are fed (even it is the eleventh day in a row of PB&H) and entertained. Sometimes that has to be enough.

I couldn’t end the post without also providing you some entertainment, so here are videos of Vivi and Charlie singing the same song as two-year-olds. FYI, the lyrics are actually:

Five little monkeys swinging in the trees
Teasing Mr. Alligator
You can’t catch me, you can’t catch me
Along comes Mr. Alligator quietly as can be
And SNAP! that monkey out of the tree

I love how the kids butcher it. And whispering is the cutest.

we interrupt this program…

…to bring you a baby video of Charlotte (5 1/2 months old) I found when organizing the computer. Notice how I am barely able to keep Vivi from smothering her. That was the status quo for what seemed like forever. It’s astounding how much daily life can change in two years.

it’s fall {again}, y’all

In case you are the last to hear this little fun fact, autumn is the best season in New England. The best, Jerry! The weather is unstoppably beautiful nearly every day, enough so that you don’t even feel guilty wasting a few hours of mid-60’s and blue sky so you can sort boxes in the basement. You know, in case you’ve got a move coming up in a few weeks and still have beach toys scattered about your yard. So…

my childhood, the redux

Cousins.

Does it go without saying that we had a great time visiting the fam? Because we did. There, I said it! I should probably wait until I’ve processed the trip more to talk about it here, but I can’t wait to show you some of my favorite pictures.

stuff is happening

Watching them play peacefully from inside the house. Two peas in an adorable pod, they are.

Seems like we’re due for me to give y’all a what-I’m-up-to brain dump. I mean, enough with the organization and the structured posts already, right? Things are going along swimmingly, that is if you don’t count the fact that I got a second nasty cold in two months (so much for my moronic “I haven’t been sick in two years!!” bragging, s’pose I had it coming), and the fact that it has been the dreariest of dreary weather for too long to count, and the fact that I am so disorganized right now that I missed Vivi’s last-day-of-school-sing-along. And then two of my friends called later to ask “What was up with you not being there?” And then a third friend emailed to say “We missed you at the sing-along!”

Nevermind all that. I can’t even. I might start crying.

an Easter full of peekaboo and buns

N.B.: This title is no doubt going to attract some p0rn searches, but whattaya gonna do?

I know I’ve already posted once today, but I couldn’t resist sharing the game of peekaboo we played while eating our special Easter snack, hot cross buns. As you’re about to see, Charlotte kinda liked it.

Hope you had a splendid weekend! I’m off to make eggs and sausage for dinner, cuz that’s the kind of day we’re having.

xoxo,
~J

p.s. I didn’t video Vivi because she’s gotten a hair cut, and I’m talking more about it (and showing a picture!) on Tuesday.at4:59 PM2 comments: Email ThisBlogThis!Share to TwitterShare to FacebookShare to PinterestLabels:Cuteness Overload,Holidays,Video

Erin go braugh (or “the Dude abides”)

I’ll begin by saying I really do not like the word vomit. I don’t like when people say “I vomited in my mouth a little” to be funny. It is not funny to imagine you vomiting in your mouth a little. Having said that, I went grocery shopping yesterday, and it looked like St. Patrick’s Day vomited everywhere. I’m not even joking. I only wish I could show you the NINE pictures I took with my phone of the NINE St. Patrick’s Day displays in Stop ‘N Shop, but my phone is evil and hates me and refuses to allow me to share. Darn you, dumb phone. I will definitely be swapping my phone for Nate’s in a matter of days. But I digress.
