And then, the day goes on, there are errands to be arranged, and I tend to lose focus. Usually the lack of assiduity can be blamed on the tiny humans, though sometimes it's not their fault. And hey, at least they do cute things like this (Charlotte is singing and dancing to "The Ants Go Marching," and Vivi is being Vivi):
I feel the need to report that Nate gave me the "What's cute about this video?" look when I showed it to him. Sometimes you're just too close to the project. Step back, man. Anywho, today was one of those days that you think is going to be warm because it's sunny, so you get excited and make lofty plans like "Let's go to the park!," only to discover upon arrival that Boston is all "Psych! Suckers!" and lets the wind loose.
Why am I outside again?
Not sure what's happening here. Definitely my kid.
I'll say it again. It's too cold to be outside!
By the time I get home in the afternoon, I'm more like this...
Then it's dinner time and Get All Your Energy Out time. That looks about like so:
Dance fever is generally followed in hot pursuit by meltdowns, pajama wrestling, and eventually bed time. Now I'm glued to the couch, scanning the sea of toddler wreckage, calculating the post-mortem on my dearth of achievement. Nate is out giving his friend a proper send-off before she moves abroad, and I am hunkered down in my jammies with a cup of tea to read All The Things.
The one saving grace of this day is that we have a long weekend to make up for it. Happy birthday Mr. President and all that. We canned the Cape Cod idea (2-hour drive, doggone cold weather) but are thinking a jaunt into Beantown is in order. Ever the eternal optimist, I'm already back to daydreaming that being outside is okay as long as I can wear a cute scarf and hat. Psych!
Here's hoping your day was more productive than mine.
