Chatty girl!

Vivi spent the last 2 weeks with my parents, first with my mom and then dad. We flew back from our trip yesterday and then met Dad in Durham NC today to pick her up. She already seems so different! She learned a bunch of new words, almost too many to list, and she loves to talk. Much of it is pretend sentences (what I call "Ewok"), but she's on her way to communicating with us! I have been singing to her for a long time, and today she suddenly decided to join in the singing, which was incredibly adorable. She is such a sweetheart.

Vivi Dances

This one is overdue, as it's over a month old, but I thought it was so cute when she first starting dancing and tapping to the rhythm of music, so I just had to share it anyway.

Vivi turns 1!

What a great day! We were exhuasted, but it was a successful celebration. She was definitely overwhelmed by the number of presents and probably would have been satisfied playing with the bags and wrapping paper all day. She loved the piano Babci got her...

Genevieve loves to eat, as usual. I think she really enjoys feeding herself. We started with shredded cheese because it's easy to eat--she still only has 4 front teeth. I discovered on our walk to the park today that when she's pointing at everything, she's actually saying "See!" because I always say "Look Vivi, see the _____?" She loves to say "Eeow" for "Meow" since I always ask "What do kitties say?" Today I experienced her first real temper tantrum at the park when I tried to remove her from the swing. She's as stubborn as her Daddy! Of course I continued what I was doing despite the protest, as every good parenting book tells me to do, but it was very hard not to laugh at her while she kicked and squealed.

Happy baby

Genevieve is a joy. We love playing with her and making her laugh and smile, which is ridiculously easy. I added a video taken today while I was trying to feed her dinner. I wasn't doing anything to make her laugh, she was amusing herself. And no, that's not Kathleen Turner, it's me with a head cold. My 2nd cold this winter for those keeping track...I miss pre-baby health. It's really hard to wash your hands enough when dealing with a squirmy toddler.

New tricks

She shakes her head whenever she gets excited or to imitate us.

Nate doesn't agree, but I'm sure she said her first word: Dada!

First tantrum (and tooth)!

She LOVES this cool invention, which allows her to suck on an orange like it's a treat...thanks Jenna! However, she does NOT love when Mommy takes it from her to add another orange slice. She had a tantrum every time, and it never stopped being hilarious.

Much to our delight, she woke up with a budding tooth on Friday morning, and she's sort of growing some fuzzy hair on top too. Next up, crawling...
